Kyneton's Fogelberg’s Conservation Framers (FCF) was established in 2014 by Cecilia Fogelberg. Headhunted by Jarman's in Hawthorn in 2016 Cecilia temporarily moved to Melbourne, later working at Art Conservation Framers in Albert Park. Over 14 months later Cecilia has returned home and is lovingly re-opening FCF. From posters, photos, footy jumpers, textiles, memorabilia, 3D objects, fine art canvases to works on paper, FCF does custom framing for all budgets and needs - everything from decorator standards to premium conservation. No job is too big or too small! Cecilia is a trained art conservator and available for consultation regarding conservation advice and treatment for fine art and valuable memorabilia. FCF also offers restoration. If you have something that is broken, FCF can fix it! Stitching, welding, gluing, mending, cleaning, objects, sculptures, art works, furniture, even your vintage Malvern Star bike. New! FCF also now offers hanging and installation services. It is still going to take me an other week or two of weeks to be fully up running. However, i can still do some smaller jobs such as new mat boards, re-glazing or some restoration work at the moment. So if you have something that needs fixing: come and see me!
Cecilia Ph 0406611005 (Photo courtesy Art Conservation Framers, Albert Park. Artwork restored by me during my employment 2016) Framed textile: This is a framed flag with the coat of arms of the island where my father was born, Öland. I spent most my summers there and it's one of the places I call home. I love having this cheeky deer on my wall.
#framedtextiles #textiles #flag #öland #wherethevikingscamefrom From Kalmar to Kyneton. The photo of my great grandfather Ragnvald Fogelberg is finally framed. I used this photo of my great grandfathers Shoe and Leather shop in Kalmar (Sweden) as inspiration when I developed FCF's logo. The Fogelberg's had a long history of leather tanning in Trekanten in the county of Småland.
I found this frame in an Op-shop for $2! I knew it would look good around the photo of my great grandma Mrs Ohlsson. This particular photo is a copy of a copy - however it is my only copy and the only copy in Australia so I am treating it as an original. I can still use the frame from the op-shop - but I change the glass for conservation glass (99% uv blocking) and I change the backing for a rag board. Instead of using a mat board I have used plastic spacers to seperate the photo from the glass (to protect it from condensation and from getting stuck to the glass) before it's all sealed up with a tape on the back (to protect it from any unwanted critters).
When using a ready made frame it's very important to remember that these frames are made with acidic mat board and acidic backboards. Those materials + cheep glass pretty much creates a micro-environment for deterioration! Yes, that's right, a badly framed piece can deteriorate quicker then if you just kept the piece in a draw or under your bed. Something to keep in mind when heading to IKEA to buy frames next time. Not saying that a cheep poster need custom framing but it's important to know that any thing of value (personal or $) should not be put into a ready-made without appropriate changes. |
